Top of an oil storage tank

The top of a large oil storage tank at an oil refinery had to be partially replaced due to corrosion beneath the damaged insulation. To prevent future corrosion issues, the owner considered installing the new roof without insulation and accepting the resulting heat loss. The TIPCHECK audit revealed the extent and costs of heat losses, and the insulation company conducting the audit could propose a technical solution that allowed for insulation of the new roof without recurring corrosion problems.
