Identifying energy and cost savings achievable with industrial insulation
The energy-saving potential of insulation in industry is significant, yet insulation remains insufficiently effective in many production facilities. TIPCHECK audits reliably identify the energy and cost savings achievable with industrial insulation. ISOPARTNER aims to improve our climate with more and better insulation. Improving the thermal insulation of industrial facilities offers significant opportunities for energy savings and CO2 reduction. The higher the temperature that industry must contend with, the more important a role efficient technical insulation plays in regulating heat loss. Additionally, studies by the EiiF find that a significant portion of low-temperature (50–100°C) industrial facilities are completely uninsulated, hence possessing great energy-saving potential. This potential is currently untapped, despite being cost-effective to implement.
The benefits of TIPCHECK for industry:
The TIPCHECK program brings numerous energy and non-energy benefits to energy users, supply systems, and the economy. Industrial insulation is a proven technology that comes with many advantages:
- Reduces energy and production costs
- Increases energy efficiency
- Decreases CO₂ emissions
- Improves process efficiency
- Reduces safety risks for personnel and equipment
- Enhances competitiveness
- 75% of TIPCHECK audits lead to insulation investments
- The payback period for initiated TIPCHECK insulation projects is often 2 years or even shorter
How to conduct the TIPCHECK audit?
TIPCHECK audits are carried out by certified experts and involve several steps.
During the initial consultation, the scope and objectives of the project are determined in collaboration with the client. Following this, all relevant information is gathered.
Next comes the on-site work, where the inspection is conducted. We analyze the current state of insulation and identify necessary measures.
Based on the findings, potential savings are calculated using the TIPCHECK tool. These findings are documented in a detailed TIPCHECK report, which is then presented to the client.
The path to TIPCHECK certification
The EiiF (European Industrial Insulation Foundation) provides training for energy auditors to equip them with tools and solutions for improving insulation solutions, thereby contributing to industrial energy savings and reducing CO2 emissions.
The training enables the assessment of the current insulation system's performance and the presentation of better insulation solutions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. It involves a five-day intensive in-person training, along with some additional training sessions. Those who successfully complete the training are designated as certified TIPCHECK Experts by the EiiF.
For instance, a TIPCHECK expert can calculate the savings potential of an operation or facility in terms of money, energy, or carbon dioxide emissions. They can also present insulation solutions to achieve this potential. The TIPCHECK training is based on international standards and offers high-quality education. Graduates have access to a reliable, standardized energy auditing tool.
